Meltheads

apple

There was no way of escaping Meltheads this past year (and frankly, why would you want to?), with their big alternative hit ‘Naïef’ and a vigorous live reputation spreading like wildfire in Belgium and The Netherlands. Not bad for a band whose debut album is yet to come out... Get ready for a thundering year by these 4 energetic lads from Antwerp.

Driven by the metronomically tight rhythm section of Tim Pensaert (bass) and Simon de Geus (drums), and fuelled by the razor-sharp and skilful guitar of Yunas de Proost, Meltheads spit out raw post and other punk, garage, wave and good old rock ‘n roll, related to bands like The Chats, Amyl and the Sniffers, The Datsuns, Gang of Four and Wire. And then there’s frontman Sietse Willems, a man born to be on stage. Why choose between Morrison, Plant and Iggy Pop when you can have all three in one passionate package?

With ‘Naïef’ becoming an overwhelming indie success, their fame quickly went through the roof. Belgian rock legends dEUS invited them as their support act for 17 European shows, taking Meltheads from Cologne to Paris and London, including 4 (!) nights at the iconic AB in Brussels. And having already taken big festivals like Pukkelpop and Lokerse Feesten by storm, Meltheads will be taking many, many more in the months to come.

And all this without a full album under their arm! Imagine then what early 2024 will bring, when the (cliché alert!) highly anticipated and very promising debut album will be in stores. The only way is up for Meltheads, and they’ll go fast.
